FXX is beefing up its originals lineup with a 10 episode order for Man Seeking Woman starring Jay Baruchel (Undeclared), The Hollywood Reporter confirmed. Man Seeking Woman is based on Simon Rich’s novel The Last Girlfriend on Earth, and will follow Baruchel’s Josh as he wades back into the traumatic world of dating.
The comedy comes just as FXX’s originals lineup is waning due to the cancellation of Legit and impending end of Wilfred. The network was conceived as a spin-off of FX that would focus primarily on comedies, but in its first year out, the network has struggled to launch any hits. However, in addition to Man Seeking Woman coming in 2015, FXX will be the cable home for The Simpsons reruns and has new seasons of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and The League coming later this season.
